Thunderbirds Continue Road Swing at Miles CC
UTTC dropped two games to Gillette and Northwest College. Both games were played at neutral site, Miles Community College.
The United Tribes women's basketball team dropped a pair of games over the weekend to newly restored program, Gillette College, and region foe, Northwest College. Each game was hosted at neutral site, Miles Community Colllege.
The Pronghorns proved to be too much for the Thunderbirds, as Gillette coasted to a 91-55 victory. The Thunderbirds struggled to keep the opponent off the glass, losing a 64-32 rebound margin, and turned the ball over 24 times. Gillette's high-score was powered by freshmen, Abby Leahy and Qaizden Stephano. Stephano contributed 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Leahy tossed in 21 points and 11 rebounds. United Tribes was led by sophomore, Tyleigh Brady, with 14 points and 6 assists. Sophomores, Myona Dauphinais and TeAnndra Kingbird-Pemberton, also reached double figures with 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
The next opponent the Thunderbirds would face was Northwest College. UTTC would come up short, losing 83-70. Thunderbirds were led by sophomores, Myona Dauphinais and Tyleigh Brady. Dauphinais would score 27 points, on 11-of-19 shooting. Brady would follow with points, on 11-of-23 shooting. Northwest had three players score in double figures, led by sophomore, Tayva Phillips, with 23 points. Freshmen, Roxanne Rogers and Kamalani Anitielu, would follow with 22 and 10 points, respectively. Northwest outrebounded UTTC, 40-32.
