Post Season Awards Roll in For United Tribes, Redfield Named Region MVP
United Tribes Technical College Men's Basketball Players Shine in Postseason Award
The United Tribes Technical College men's basketball team has garnered well-deserved recognition in the postseason awards after capturing the 2024 Region XIII Championship on Sunday.
Leading the charge is Cayden Redfield, the 6'5" sophomore from Hardin, MT, who not only secured a spot on the 1st Team Mon Dak All Conference and Region Teams, but also earned the prestigious NJCAA Region XIII Most Valuable Player award. Redfield's exceptional performance on the court has been outstanding, boasting impressive averages of 20.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game throughout the season.
Joining Redfield in the limelight is the promising talent of Houston Davis, a 6'5" freshman hailing from Belcourt, ND. Davis shot a stellar 54% from the field, scoring 18 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game earning him a spot on both the NJCAA All Region and Mon Dak All Conference teams.
Not to be overlooked is Jacolby Pearson, the 6'3" freshman guard from Fort Totten, ND, who secured a spot on the NJCAA All Region team. Pearson's impactful performances throughout the season have been instrumental in the team's success, averaging 8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while demonstrating his ability to rise to the occasion in crucial matchups.
The collective efforts of these exceptional players and the rest of team led to Pete Conway being named the Region XIII Coach of the Year. Conway's teams have played in 6 of the last 8 Region Championship games. United Tribes clinched the Region XIII Championship, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in the upcoming North District Championship Game.
United Tribes Technical College is set to face off against Southeast Community College on Saturday, March 9th, at 3 PM in the North District Championship Game. The stakes are high, as the victor will advance to the prestigious NJCAA National Tournament in Danville, IL, scheduled from March 18th to the 23rd.
