United Tribes Dominates Region XIII Semifinal, Advances to Championship
Thunderbirds reach third straight Region XIII Championship game
In a stunning display of offensive firepower, the United Tribes Thunderbirds soared to victory in the Region XIII Semifinal game against Gogebic College. From the opening tip-off, the Thunderbirds unleashed an unstoppable offensive onslaught, amassing a staggering 89 points in the first half alone and securing a commanding 42-point lead by halftime.
The Thunderbirds' three-point shooting was particularly lethal, with 11 long-range bombs finding the net in the first half and a total of 21 raining down throughout the game.
Leading the charge for United Tribes was the duo of Houston Davis and Mark Fassett. Davis exhibited remarkable efficiency, shooting an impressive 13-15 from the field en route to a game-high 29 points. Meanwhile, Fassett made his presence felt coming off the bench, knocking down 5 three-pointers and finishing with 23 points, providing a crucial spark to the Thunderbirds' offense.
The offensive onslaught didn't stop there, as five other Thunderbirds joined in on the scoring barrage, each reaching double figures in points. Hudda Curry contributed 20 points, while Cayden Redfield added 19 to the scoreboard. Trae Hugs displayed his versatility with a double-double performance, tallying 17 points and dishing out 11 assists. Jacolby Pearson chipped in with 13 points, and Ty Moccasin rounded out the scoring with 11 of his own.
With their dominant performance securing a spot in the championship game, the Thunderbirds now turn their attention to their conference rivals, Dakota College Bottineau. The championship game tips off Sunday at 2 PM at the Thunder Dome.
