United Tribes Rallies for 89-86 win at Miles Community College
Thunderbirds win Mon Dak Road Contest
United Tribes trailed by as many as 13 points in the 1st half Thursday night at Miles Community College, but used some timely defense and iced the game at the free throw line to sneak out a 89-86 MonDak Conference win against the Pioneers. The Thunderbirds fell behind 48-40 at the half but outscored the Pioneers 49-38 in that frame to gain the victory.
For the game the Thunderbirds shot 43% from the field and the Pioneers 47%. Both teams had 38 rebounds. United Tribes was able to capitalize at the free throw line as the Pioneers were whistled for two technical fouls in the second half resulting in four Thunderbird trips to foul line and they were able to ice the game at the line when the Pioneers were forced to foul in the last minute by making 4-6. The Thunderbirds shot 80% (24-30) from the foul line.
All 5 starters hit double digits for the Thunderbirds led by Tahj Two Bulls with 23 points. Sylvester Union was a perfect 3-3 from the three point line and finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Tristin Davis added 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. DK Middleton had 12 points and 7 rebounds while Jayce Archambault added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
United Tribes has a home contest with cross town Bismarck State College on Monday February 7th. The women tip at 5:30 followed by the men at 7:30.
