United Tribes hung around all night, but the defending 4 time conference champion North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats held on to defeat the Thunderbirds 89-78 in Wahpeton, ND. Tribes would close the gap to four points with seven minutes to go and again to five points with under four minutes remaining, but could not quite get over the hump. Montel Carlow carried the Thunderbirds with 39 points while shooting 14-25 from the field. He was a perfect 8-8 from the foul line. Rob McClain Jr. was the only other Thunderbird to reach double figures. McClain Jr. finished with 20 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
United Tribes returns home on Thursday for another Mon Dak Conference game against the league leading Royals of Lake Region State College. The women tip at 5:30 followed by the men at 7:30.
