United Tribes hosted a pair of games this past weekend for the first time this season at the Thunderdome.  In the season opener the Thunderbirds fell to a very good Sheridan College team.  Sheridan came into the contest undefeated.  In the first half the teams traded blows and the game was tied 7 times and the lead changed hands 16 times.  Sheridan College used some hot 3 point shooting to head into the locker room at the half up 56-48.  The Generals continued to light it up from distance and started the second half on an 11-0 run the Thunderbirds would not recover from.  Sheridan shot over 50% from the field and nailed 12 three pointers to cruise to a 108-83 win.  Montel Carlow led the way for the Thunderbirds with 25 points, Chay York finished with 14, and Dante' Fischer reached double figures with 10.

After a quick turnaround Tribes faced off with Presentation College.  The Thunderbirds rolled past the Saints, scoring 61 points in the first half on the way to a 111-59 victory.

Rob McClain Jr. had a big game for United Tribes, finishing with a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds, both team highs. McClain hit 11 of 15 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc, and hit 1 of 2 from the line. He also blocked a pair of shots.  Montel Carlow went 8-for-12 from the field, including 5-for-8 from 3-point range, and finished with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Joe Sazue III added 12 points and all 13 Thunderbirds who played scored in the contest. UTTC shot 45 percent – 45-for-100 – from the field and hits 13 of 40 – 32.5 percent – from 3-point range.

United Tribes plays Turtle Mountain Community College on Tuesday night at the Thunderdome.  The women tip at 5:30 pm followed by the men at 7:30 pm.
