United Tribes Claims 82-68 Victory Over Turtle Mountain
Behind a strong second-half, defensive effort, the United Tribes women's basketball team were able to claim a 82-68 victory over the Turtle Mountain Mikinocks.
The United Tribes women's basketball team claimed a 82-68 victory over the Turtle Mountain Mikinocks Tuesday, Nov. 28, inside the Turtle Mountain Community High School.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improve to 7-3 overall record for the 2017-18 season. The game was the 8th contest for the Mikinocks.
Freshman Tariq Brownotter scored 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field to lead four Thunderbirds in double figures. Freshman Mia Wilkinson added 23 points and 7 assists, Freshman Danielle Peltier contributed 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, while Ramie DeCoteau netted 11 points. Sophomore Ky'Lee Driftwood was just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
The Thunderbirds shot 53 percent from the floor and 39 percent from three-point range, and posted a 42-37 advantage in rebounding for the contest.
Claudia Santiesteban scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Mikinocks.
TMCC shot 38 percent from the field and 64 percent from three-point range.
United Tribes is scheduled to host dual action Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, inside the James Henry Gymnasium. The Thunderbirds will tip-off at 5:30pm against Little Big Horn Friday, Dec. 1, and 12:00pm Saturday, Dec. 2, against Miles Community College.
