Thunderbird Women Defeat Central Lakes-Brainerd in OT Thriller, 97-90
Led by Mia Wilkinson's career high 27 points and Tariq Brownotter's 19 points, the United Tribes Lady Thunderbirds defeated Central Lakes-Brainerd Raiders in overtime 97-90 Friday night to push their record to 5-3.
The United Tribes Technical College women's basketball team used a strong second half to push the game into overtime and defeat the Central Lakes-Brainerd Raiders, 97-90, in an regular season game Friday, Nov. 17, inside the Central Lakes College gymnasium.
UTTC is scheduled to host Turtle Mountain Community College Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 5:30pm. Men to follow at 7:30pm.
Freshman Mia Wilkinson scored 27 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field to lead the Thunderbirds offensive attack, while freshman Tariq Brownotter added 19 points and four rebounds. Ramie DeCoteau pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and tallied 15 points, while Sophomore Ky'Lee Driftwood and Freshman Danielle Peltier contributed 14 and 12 points respectively.
For the game, UTTC went 40-of-68 from the field for 58.8 percent, including a 7-for-12 performance from three-point range (58.3 percent). The Thunderbirds made 10-of-11 free throws for 90.9 percent.
Tanisha Beetso scored 33 points and Aleia Lupa contributed 17 points, leading the Raiders.
