In a game that featured 16 ties and 12 lead changes the Dakota County Knights were able to outlast United Tribes 93-91 in overtime. The Thunderbirds were hot early from the perimeter and jumped out to a 10 point lead in the opening minutes of the first half. The Blue Knights chipped away and were able to close the gap to 50-46 heading into the lockerrom at the half. In the second half neither team would lead by more than 4 points. The Blue Knights sent the game to overtime with two free throws and the score tied at 81. In overtime Tribes was clinging to a 91-90 lead when Adreon Waldington was able to score a contested shot in the lane to put the Blue Knights up 92-91 and seal the game for Dakota County. Rob McClain Jr. paced the Thunderbirds with 33 points and a school record 25 rebounds. He also had 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Montel Carlow added 17. Chayton York had 16 points and a game high 7 assists. Joe Sazure III provided a spark off the bench with 13 points.
The Thunderbirds return home for a three game stand. They face off with Region 9 opponent Sheridan College on Friday night at 7:30 pm at the Thunderdome.
