Thunderbirds Split Weekend Games
Tribes Men lose to Gillette College on Friday night and bounce back with win over Gogebic College on Saturday
The United Tribes Men's Basketball team fell to Region IX and National Power Gillette College on Friday night, but bounced back with a 30 point win over fellow Region XIII opponent Gogebic College on Saturday afternoon. In the win on Saturday Amaury Matthews led the way with 23 points, 17 assists, and 7 rebounds. On the receiving end of many of those assists was Xavier Norris who continued to have the hot hand. Norris shot 15-18 from the field and finished with 33 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ernest Grant came off the bench and poured in 18 points, Antwan Antonio had 17, and Adrian Farmer contributed 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The Thunderbirds moved the ball well on offense and finished with 37 assists in the 133-103 victory. They currently lead the nation in scoring and head into the winter break with an overall record of 10-4.
