UNITED TRIBES COMPLETES WEEKEND SWEEP
Extend win streak to 5 with wins over Miles Community College and Little Big Horn College
United Tribes used a balanced scoring attack in a pair of wins over the weekend in the John Thunderhawk Classic. On Friday night the Thunderbirds jumped out to a 50-17 lead in the first half before cruising to victory 136-111 against the visiting Rams of Little Big Horn College. The Thunderbirds placed 5 in double figures with Xavier Norris leading the way with 39 points. Antwan Antonio chipped in 29 points and 7 rebounds and Amaury Matthews had another solid game with 18 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Saturday afternoon saw the Pioneers of Miles Community College visit the Thunderdome. Again the Thunderbirds had 5 players score in double figures in a tight contest that Tribes was able to hold on to win 100-92. Xavier Norris led the way again with 34 points including 6-8 from the three point line. Antwan Antonio contrbuted 17 points, Ernest Grant 12, Tommy Williams and Adrian Farmer both had 11.
With the wins the Thunderbirds extended their win streak to 5 and overall record to 9-3 on the season. United Tribes is home again this weekend for its final two games before the winter break. On Friday night they host Gillette College who finished 3rd at the National Tournament a year ago and are currently 11-1. On Saturday they face fellow Region 13 foe Gogebic College out of Ironwood, Michigan.
